This course builds on the concepts learned in LPN 110. Students practice techniques for assuming responsibility and accountability for the quality of nursing care provided to patients and their families in a variety of health care settings; functioning to the full scope of safe nursing practice, as dictated by state practical nursing regulation. The collaborative role of the LPN is demonstrated through role-play and simulation exercises in the classroom laboratory, and students learn methods for becoming vital members of the interprofessional health care team. There is an emphasis on patient safety and the maintenance of high-quality individualized plans of care that address the needs of a diverse patient population. Students demonstrate medication administration proficiency through validation of these skills in the laboratory and are required to score 100% on a dosage and calculation examination.
