This course will provide an introduction to the U.S. healthcare system, the history, its problems, and possible solutions. Discussion will include the definition of health, identification of the healthcare workforce and their function as part of the US health care system. The role of Hospitals, Primary Care, Ambulatory Care, Federal and State Government in the U.S. healthcare system will be described. An investigation of U.S. healthcare finance and the need for healthcare reform will be included.
