Nursing

  • Adjunct nursing faculty – A part-time teaching position responsible for providing didactic instruction to nursing students within an academic institution’s nursing program. This role requires expertise in the field of nursing and a commitment to fostering the development of competent and compassionate nursing professionals. Note:  Student evaluations are completed in collaboration with MCHP fulltime faculty.
    • Qualifications:
      • Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited university or college is preferred. Bachelors applicants who are currently enrolled in a Master’s program will be considered.
      • Active and unrestricted licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the state of Maine
      • Strong clinical experience and expertise in nursing practice, preferably in the specialty area related to the teaching assignment.
      • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
      • Demonstrated commitment to promoting student success, diversity, and inclusivity.
      • Proficiency in using educational technology and learning management systems.
    • Key Responsibilities:
      • Didactic Instruction: Deliver high-quality classroom instruction to nursing students based on the established curriculum. Develop lesson plans, deliver lectures, facilitate discussions, and utilize various teaching methodologies to enhance student learning.
      • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the nursing program’s faculty and staff to review and update the nursing curriculum. Stay current with trends and best practices in nursing education to ensure curriculum relevance and alignment with industry standards.
      • Assessment and Evaluation: Design and administer assessments, examinations, and other evaluative measures to assess student learning outcomes. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic progress and growth.
      • Student Support: Foster a supportive learning environment by providing guidance, mentorship, and academic advising to nursing students. Offer support to students experiencing academic challenges or personal difficulties, and refer them to appropriate resources when necessary.
      • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development activities to stay current with advancements in nursing education and instructional methodologies. Attend workshops, conferences, and seminars to enhance teaching skills and knowledge in the field of nursing.

  • Adjunct Clinical Instructor –  Educate student nurses in the clinical setting, conducts classes, evaluates student competencies, and supports student success. They provide supervision of students in the clinical environment, serve as a resource person, and participate in orientation activities. Note:  Student evaluations are completed in collaboration with MCHP fulltime faculty.
    • Qualification: Preferred: Master’s in nursing from an accredited university or college. Bachelor’s and associate degree applicants currently enrolled in relevant programs will be considered.
      • Current license to practice as a registered nurse in Maine
      • Current American Heart Association healthcare provider BLS certification
      • Three or more years of professional nursing experience.
      • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, if required.
      • Strong clinical experience and expertise in nursing practice, preferably in the specialty area related to the teaching assignment.
      • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
      • Demonstrated commitment to promoting student success, diversity, and inclusivity.
      • Proficiency in using educational technology and learning management systems.
      • Application of learning theory in the clinical setting.
      • Deadline management and ability to work under pressure.
      • Self-motivation, independence, and teamwork.
      • Adherence to principles of respect, trust, integrity, teamwork, and collaboration.
    • Key Job Responsibilities:
      • Create a healthy learning environment using various instructional methods.
      • Teach nursing clinical courses.
      • Guide students to achieve desired outcomes.
      • Provide constructive and timely feedback on student work.
      • Submit grades accurately and promptly.
      • Advise students based on best practices.
      • Support the mission and goals of the College.
      • Maintain clinical and academic expertise.
      • Communicate effectively with students and colleagues.
      • Offer guidance on academic performance and refer students when needed.
      • Collaborate with MCHP staff on student issues.
