Where in Maine Can You Get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN)?

MCHP’s RN-BSN Program!

There’s a palpable excitement at MCHP these days—even more than usual! We’ve just learned about our final approval to offer an RN to BSN program, and we’re eagerly putting the final pieces into place to begin accepting applications the week of October 23 for a January 2018 start.

We are exceptionally proud to be the only college in Maine that offers both the associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) and now the RN to BSN. What this means is that students can come to us – either directly from high school or after being out of high school (or even college) for a while – and have the opportunity to enroll in a program that leads to an RN first and a BSN second. Practically speaking, this means that individuals at MCHP can begin their fulfilling and well-compensated careers after as little as two years and then continue on to complete bachelor’s degrees according to a pace that suits their lives.

Seasoned nursing professionals seeking the bachelor’s degree will find a supportive, knowledgeable, and genuine learning environment here. Licensed nurses with associate’s degrees—we encourage you to join us and make your dreams of completing the BSN come true. Not only will this lead to better career opportunities and enhanced knowledge, it will be a tremendous source of pride and a significant step toward self-actualization.

Several years ago, MCHP made a pledge to itself that it would one day offer baccalaureate programs that lead to rewarding and fulfilling healthcare careers. This promise was rooted in the knowledge that what we offer is necessary and how we offer it is exemplary.

At MCHP, we prioritize clinical application, and we ensure that students in our ADN to BSN programs get clinical experience within two weeks of enrolling in the program. This is vastly different from most BSN degree programs, where clinical experience is sometimes not a reality until almost two years into the curriculum.

Clinical experience is also a part of our RN to BSN, where we emphasize population health. At the culmination of the program, students will have opportunities to support the community in completing a 90-hour practicum for all RN to BSN learners. This rich experience is designed to enable soon-to-be program graduates to apply their skills and learning in the field.

Our affordability is admirable, and we strive to ensure that students aren’t burdened with debt upon graduation. Our per-credit tuition rate for non-clinical classes is less than $300, meaning that, for those associates qualified nurses who join us to complete the bachelor’s degree, the total investment is less than $25,000.

This significant achievement has been a long time in the making, and there are countless individuals from all corners of our organization who have had a hand in making this plan become a reality. We’re eager to share details with you about this great degree plan and give you an opportunity to find out more about the program and how we do what we do.
